Emergency Communications for Southwest British Columbia, Vancouver, B.C.

Emergency Communications for Southwest British Columbia is a corporation formed under the BC Company Act to provide essential services to the Lower Mainland. These services include Disaster Management, a Wide Area Radio Network, Consolidated Dispatch and a Records Management System. The E-Comm building is a three-level, 60,000-square-foot, reinforced concrete post-disaster facility specifically designed to facilitate coordination of municipal responses and maintain critical communication links during emergencies. Commercial Electronics Ltd was selected to supply the Audio/Video system integration for this facility. Worth over three quarters of a million dollars, this system represents the backbone of E-Comm's information logistics. Using sophisticated information gathering, editing, routing, and presentation equipment, this system is capable of supplying the crucial information needed to coordinate responses during emergencies. The equipment list represents merely the hardware supplied, but does not tell the full story as to the system's complexity.

Canadian Technology Sector

Leading Canadian technology companies are on the cutting edge with their products and services. A wireless boardroom control system with seamless integration for video conferencing and multimedia presentations holds a lot of appeal. And what makes more sense than portable, completely wireless LCD touch-panel control?
Its apparent simplicity belies a complexity of design, with an intuitive interface to present multimedia applications and boardroom presentations. Commercial Electronics is proud to be the ongoing provider of cutting-edge wireless control technology for these industry leaders.

City Council Chambers Vancouver, BC

The Vancouver City Hall Council Chambers system is a prime example of how the Internet and websites have become a vital part of an audio/video installation. The system installed was the first of its kind in Canada, and at the time of installation was one of the largest and most ambitious in North America. It’s called the Crestron e-control technology, which goes beyond Crestron’s well-known touch screen technology to a truly web-based control system.
But there is more to this system than merely controlling the audio/visual system. While it does this very well, it also controls a sophisticated automated “request to speak” queue microphone system used by the Aldermen, and an overriding interactive sequential or random microphone system – all controlled via a website and/or touch screen system. It’s never been quieter in the Council Chambers. Commercial Electronics takes great pride in this system. It makes us the designers and installers of a very sophisticated automation control system never attempted before here in Vancouver, and the model for many other e-control systems throughout the world.
